Armenian Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan on Friday delivered a speech at the meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council, and confirmed Yerevan’s commitment to the development of mutually beneficial cooperation within the framework of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU. The meeting was held in Kazakhstan, under the chairmanship of the country’s president, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.

At the beginning of his speech, Grigoryan thanked the Kazakh side for the high level of organizing the events and hospitality, and emphasized the symbolic circumstance that the first meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council in 2026 is held on the Eurasian Economic Union Day.

“Armenia intends to continue to participate in the work of the union in good faith, based on mutual respect, equal partnership, and taking into account the national interests of all EAEU member states,” the deputy premier stated.

According to Grigoryan, Yerevan views Eurasian integration as an important tool for ensuring economic stability and sustainable development for both individual countries and the entire region.

In his address, the deputy PM of Armenia paid special attention to technological development and artificial intelligence (AI). He noted that the introduction of AI is becoming one of the key factors in increasing the competitiveness of economies and strengthening the technological sovereignty of states.

Grigoryan welcomed the joint statement of the EAEU countries on the responsible development of AI, calling it an important step towards the development of agreed approaches and effective mechanisms for cooperation in this sector.

Speaking about economic integration and liberalization of trade in services within the EAEU, the Armenian deputy premier noted that further coordination of national regulatory mechanisms will help increase the transparency and predictability of rules for business, as well as create additional opportunities for economic interaction between the EAEU countries.

Among the priority domains, Grigoryan noted as well the diversification of the trade and economic ties with third countries. He stressed the need to fully implement existing free trade agreements and promote negotiations on new agreements.

“One of the key factors for development is the diversification of transport links, which will significantly boost the growth of trade,” he noted.

In addition, the Armenian side attaches great importance to the development of cooperation in the agro-industrial sector. In this connection, Grigoryan welcomed the signing of a protocol on the expansion of financial support mechanisms for cooperation projects in the agro-industrial complex, and stressed that this will contribute to enhancing food security within the EAEU.

At the end of his speech, the deputy prime minister of Armenia thanked the participants of the meeting for their constructive and productive work, and expressed confidence that Eurasian integration will continue to develop in the interests of the member states and their citizens.
