As a result of the actions carried out during the investigation of the criminal case being investigated by the Investigative Committee of Armenia, one of the persons who planned the assassination of the Prime Minister of Armenia has been identified, the Investigative Committee informed Armenian News-NEWS.am.

In particular, factual data has been obtained that M.M., who has been living in a foreign country since 2024, together with at least four other people, in connection with the performance of the political and state activities of the prime minister of Armenia, acquired means and created conditions with the intention of depriving him of his life. In particular, they acquired clothing and masks to conceal their identity, as well as collected information about the Armenian PM’s whereabouts and parliamentary election campaign routes, thus preparing the assassination after which, wearing the aforementioned clothing and masks, they recorded and distributed a video message addressed to the prime minister of Armenia, during which they made threats.

In addition, on May 16, 2026, individuals intercepted the—video—data and video message transmitted live using computer communication means stored in the system of a website not intended for general use, thereby hindering the election campaign preceding the Armenian National Assembly elections to be held on June 7.

A public criminal prosecution has been initiated against M.M. on charges of preparation of murder of  person by a group of persons in connection with the performance of state and political activities by that person, as well as other obstruction of the campaigning of a group of persons.

An arrest warrant has been issued for M.M.

Earlier, the Investigative Committee of Armenia reported that criminal proceedings had been initiated in connection with a video containing threats and insults addressed to Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.

According to the Investigative Committee, an investigation is underway into the cases of a group of individuals plotting for murder, committing computer sabotage, and illegally trafficking firearms and ammunition.

In a video posted online on May 18, a group of masked and armed individuals uttered threats and curses in the Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) dialect to Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
