The economy is what keeps the country going, what feeds the people. What will happen if the economy collapses? Prosperous Armenia Party chairman—and businessman—Gagik Tsarukyan told this to reporters Monday during the PAP’s parliamentary election campaign, and regarding Russia’s imposition of restrictions on Armenia.

“One thing must be understood that the economy is not government or opposition, the economy is not pro-Russian or pro-Western, the economy either develops, works, or immediately collapses, bursts.

Today we [i.e. Armenia] are on the verge of collapse. Who will keep those people? Who will feed [them]? Who will repay the loans? People [in Armenia] will completely lose their property, this cannot happen.

They [i.e. the incumbent Armenian authorities] talk in vain that we [i.e. Armenia] have alternatives. They have not been able to take any steps to change their alternative for ten years. The alternative is that one is closed, the other is opening," the PAP leader said.
