Yesterday we saw how the debate of political forces was going on on Public Television. It was not a debate, it was a swearing-mixed fight where, in addition to swearing, there were also some conversations about the security of Armenia, which was absolutely not about the security of Armenia. Edmon Marukyan, chairman of the Bright Armenia Party (BAP), stated this during their parliamentary election campaign Monday in the Malatia-Sebastia administrative district of Yerevan.

"I want to show our people, with the example of this debate, that what kind of parliament you will have if only these forces enter parliament. Then don't come, say, 'Wow! What happened? Wow! How did it happen?' Well, it's obvious, you see what's happening.

Next, Euronews published some survey conducted by an Armenian sociological company. And according to that survey, they published shameful data that supposedly the [incumbent Armenian] authorities are winning by 65% and some opposition forces are passing [into the parliament]. But I think it is pointless to discuss who is passing, how it is passing.

We consider this to be a part of propaganda; that is, to preach hopelessness to people that the authorities have already won, and that people become afraid of it, not to go to the polls, to consider it hopeless, pointless. We are here, dear compatriots, to give you a message that you absolutely don’t look at any survey, you definitely go to the polling stations.

Don’t believe the surveys published before the [June 7] elections at all, just go to the polling station, and vote with ballot number 19 [of the BAP] in such a way that there be many [political] forces in the [Armenian] parliament, as a result of which a compromise government, with a compromise prime minister, will be formed, and [PM] Nikol Pashinyan will be banned from being elected for a third term.

This is the reason why we call on you to vote with ballot number 19, because even if the Euronews study turns out to be correct, in that case at least you will have a parliamentary faction demanding accountability, counterbalancing the government.

By voting for us, you will prevent that 65% disgrace, you will prevent the swearing-mixed debates, but you will bring a real ideological debate,” added Marukyan.
