Ankara has shown “political will” for the implementation of the so-called “Zangezur Corridor,” according to Turkey’s minister of transport and infrastructure, Abdulkadir Uraloglu

“After the agreement between the US and Azerbaijan, we expect to start the project as soon as possible. Thus, the Turkic world and Central Asia will be connected to us via a shorter route,” Uraloglu said.

According to him, the tender for the construction of the 224-kilometer Kars-Igdir-Aralik-Dilucu railway in Turkey has already been held, and work has begun.

Uraloglu added that the work on the Azerbaijani side is nearing completion, while the missing sections in Azerbaijan’s Nakhchivan exclave will still be built.

“We are also following the processes related to the Zangezur Corridor through Armenia. When this railway is operational, we will have a much shorter connection with the Turkic world and Central Asia," the Turkish official added.
