Fruit, vegetable, and flower exporters of Armenia will receive compensation, the Armenian government has decided at Thursday's Cabinet meeting.

Businesses exporting fresh greenhouse-grown fruits, vegetables, and flowers to be exported from Armenia in June will receive compensation. The corresponding decision was made during today's Cabinet meeting of the Armenian government.

On May 25, it became known that the Food Safety Inspectorate of Armenia did not allow some of the country's businesses to export strawberries to Russia.

Starting from May 30, the Russian Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Supervision (Rosselkhoznadzor) has introduced temporary restrictions on the imports of tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, greens, and strawberries to Russia from Armenia. Rosselkhoznadzor explained that the decision was made in response to the frequent violations during the supply of Armenian fruits and vegetables and to ensure phytosanitary safety in Russia. Also, Rosselkhoznadzor has restricted the import of stone fruits and grapes to Russia from Armenia since Tuesday, and the import of apples, eggplants, potatoes, and dried fruits since Wednesday.

The aforesaid compensation will be provided in the following amounts:

1) 770 drams for each 1 kg of strawberries,

2) 275 drams for each 1 kg of tomatoes,

3) 400 drams for each 1 kg of peppers,

4) 37 drams for each flower.

“This decision will somewhat alleviate the problems associated with the export of individual greenhouse products, and will provide an opportunity to diversify [Armenia’s] export markets, which will contribute to ensuring the normal operation of organizations,” the decision’s explanation states.

The Ministry of Economy noted that Armenia’s exports of fruits, vegetables, and flowers in 2025 had amounted to about 72.9 billion drams. About 93.3 percent of them were to Russia.

The Ministry of Economy says that under the aforesaid restrictions imposed by Russia, it has become necessary to support Armenia’s exporters in exporting to other countries by providing compensation for each 1 kg of exported products.

The analysis of Armenia’s exports showed that in June, the amount subject to export within the framework of the event will amount to about 4,250 tons, and flowers—to 10 million pieces.

Another government decision will stimulate the export of goods of Armenian origin by Armenia’s producers to the markets of the European Union, the United Kingdom, and Canada through customs duty compensation.

The products of the “growing of crops” economic activity type will also be added to the list of compensable goods.
