The Treaty on the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) does not provide for procedures for the withdrawal or termination of membership of a union member, and the possibility of using these measures will be developed by December, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexey Overchuk told Interfax news agency.

"We will now study what ‘termination’ means. The truth is that the Union Treaty does not provide for a procedure for termination of membership, nor does it provide for a procedure of expulsion of members. Therefore, all this must be studied very carefully from a legal point of view by December," Overchuk said.

After the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council (SEEC) meeting held in Astana at the end of May, Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan issued a statement, according to which the matter of Armenia's membership in the EAEU is planned to be addressed at the next SEEC meeting in December.
