During the US Senate hearing, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, answering the question of Republican Party Senator Steve Daines about how the Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP) project’s framework agreement will be implemented and what benefits the US will receive from its implementation in the region, said that this project is the anchor of the peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan and can completely transform Armenia's strategic position and become a central hub for regional trade. According to Rubio, it also solves the issue of access to Azerbaijan’s Nakhichevan exclave, which is of concern to the country.

It is noteworthy that Rubio used the word "corridor" several times when talking about TRIPP during the hearing.

The signed agreement enables to stimulate private investment in this “corridor” for the benefit of American companies and American interests, as well as for the benefit of Armenia, Azerbaijan, and other countries in the region, Rubio said.

Peace is only the beginning, what is important is the economic opportunities it provides, he added.

There are American companies and American workers who will benefit from this, but the ultimate beneficiary of the opening of this “corridor” will be the Armenian people, Rubio said.

Interestingly, although Senator Daines had never mentioned the word “corridor” in his question, Rubio began his answer by saying, as the senator described it as a “corridor,” after which he used that word repeatedly throughout his speech.
