Russia is ready to provide every possible assistance to Azerbaijan in its rapprochement with the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) and wants to see the country among the shareholders of the Eurasian Development Bank, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin said.

"We [i.e. Russia] are ready to contribute by all possible means to Azerbaijan's rapprochement with this integration association, as this, in our opinion, will contribute to the further strengthening of economic ties already formed in our shared Eurasian territory," the Russian deputy foreign minister said during the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.

According to him, such rapprochement will also "have a good and positive impact on Azerbaijan’s economy, as the country will gain access to the advantages of the common commodity market and will be able to expand cooperation in the areas of transport, services, and investments."

"We [i.e. Russia] would like to see Azerbaijan among the shareholders of the Eurasian Development Bank, and we believe that this move will pave the way for financing major projects in the [Azerbaijan] republic on the account of the bank's resources," Galuzin added.
