Russia is ready to provide a platform for the signing of the peace treaty between Armenia and Azerbaijan, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin assured, TASS reports.

“As before, we [i.e. Moscow] are ready to assist Baku and Yerevan in unblocking transport and economic communications and resolving humanitarian issues, as well as to prepare and provide a Russian platform for the signing of the peace treaty,” the senior Russian diplomat said in his speech at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.

Galuzin said that Russia has always supported the comprehensive normalization of Armenian-Azerbaijani relations, based on the trilateral statements signed by the heads of the three countries in 2020-2022.

"We [i.e. Russia] see significant potential in the ‘3+3’ regional cooperation platform, which unites Russia, Iran, Turkey, Azerbaijan, Armenia and Georgia; that is, the countries of the South Caucasus and their historical neighbors," Galuzin stated.

He clarified that the goal of this mechanism is to resolve local issues through the efforts of the South Caucasus countries themselves and their neighbors, free from destructive external interference.
