The appellate court of Armenia has commuted Archbishop Bagrat Galstanyan’s precautionary measure of detention to house arrest.

The court allowed Archbishop Galstanyan to travel to Ijevan on his own, without the accompaniment of law enforcement officers, and vote in Sunday’s parliamentary elections.

He was given 7 hours.

Archbishop Bagrat Galstanyan has been under arrest since June 2025. According to the Investigative Committee of Armenia, participants in the Galstanyan-led “Holy Struggle” movement had planned to carry out terrorist and power-seizing actions in Armenia.
