Russia is surprised by the attempts of the European Union (EU) and the United States (US) to interfere in the process of resolving regional security issues in the South Caucasus, said deputy secretary of the Russian Security Council, Aleksey Shevtsov.
“To put it mildly, it is surprising that countries and organizations that are completely outside the [South Caucasus] region are trying to interfere in the resolution of our regional issues. I mean, of course, the EU and the US,” Shevtsov said during the session ‘“3+3’ Platform: Shared Challenges and Strategic Partnership” at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.
Also, he drew attention to the fact that all participants in the “3+3” platform note the “already long-standing need” to resolve regional security issues, but “regional issues require regional solutions.”
