On Sunday evening, the Iranian armed forces carried out a large-scale missile strike on Israel’s military and strategic facilities, Mehr reports.

Tehran said the operation was a response to repeated violations of the ceasefire by Israel, in particular strikes on southern Lebanon, the Dahieh district in Beirut, and the deaths of Lebanese civilians.

Iranian authorities recalled that after a 40-day armed conflict involving Iran, Israel, and the United States, a comprehensive ceasefire agreement was reached through Pakistani mediation in Islamabad. One of Tehran’s key conditions was an end to hostilities on all fronts, including Lebanon, as well as Israel’s complete cessation of attacks on Lebanese territory.

Tehran claims that immediately after the agreement came into force, Israel, with U.S. support, violated its terms by continuing military operations in Lebanon. According to the Iranian side, these actions were the reason for the current strike.

According to the Iranian media outlet, dozens of high-precision ballistic missiles were launched during the operation at military targets inside Israel.

Air raid sirens were also reported in Tel Aviv, Haifa, and a number of central areas of the country. Iranian sources claim that the intended targets were hit.

The report also recalls that last week Iran warned it was ready to strike northern Israel if the Israeli army attacked Beirut. As Mehr reports, following that warning, the planned operation against the Lebanese capital was canceled.

Tehran again stated that it would regard any further attacks against Lebanon or other allies of the “axis of resistance” as a violation of the agreements and reserves the right to respond more harshly in the future.
