Several media outlets, including Axios and Israel’s Channel 12, report that U.S. President Donald Trump told them he was calling Benjamin Netanyahu to ask him not to respond to Iran’s strikes.
Axios reporter Barak Ravid said on social media platform X that Trump also told him he was “very close” to reaching a deal with Iran to end the war permanently, adding that he did not want the diplomatic process to “fall apart” because of Iran’s attack on Israel.
“The Iranian strikes did not harm anyone. Hopefully, Israel is not going to take retaliatory action. If Bibi strikes back, everything will continue the way it has for the last 47 years or the last 3,000 years,” Axios quotes Trump as saying.
