The Central Electoral Commission of Armenia has concluded the counting of the ballots that were cast in Sunday’s regular National Assembly (parliament). The results of all 2005 polling stations in the country have been calculated.

According to these data, the currently ruling Civil Contract party has finished first, with a result of 49.81 % (727,160 votes).

The Strong Armenia bloc of parties is in second place, having garnered 23.29% (340,062 votes).

The “Armenia” bloc of parties is in third place, with 9.94% (145,097 votes).

The Prosperous Armenia Party is in fourth place, garnering 4.00% (58,368 votes).

And the Wings of Unity party, which occupies fifth place, has 2.30% (33,618 votes).

At least 105 MPs will be elected to the National Assembly of Armenia, unless the norms on providing additional parliamentary seats to some other political forces due to the peculiarities of the election law are applied.

The Armenian parliament is elected under the proportional representation system; that is, only by party lists.

Sixteen parties and two blocs were vying for seats in the 9th convocation of the parliament of Armenia.

The threshold for passing into the Armenian legislature is 4% for parties, and 8% for blocs.
