Fewer votes were wasted in the National Assembly (parliament) elections held in Armenia on Sunday than in the 2021 elections.

About 260,000 votes were wasted in 2021, whereas  this year, the number of wasted votes was 185,347, which is about 12 percent. This is if the Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP) passes the minimum threshold and enters the parliament.

But if the PAP does not win parliamentary seats, then the 58,368 votes received by the PAP will be added to the 185,347 wasted votes and will amount to 243,715.

The voter turnout in the 2026 elections was also much higher than in 2021. If in 2021, a total of 49.4 percent of voters had participated in the elections, this year the figure was 58.97 percent.

According to the preliminary data of the Central Electoral Commission of Armenia on Sunday’s elections, the votes were distributed as follows: ruling Civil Contract party – 49, 825 percent, Strong Armenia bloc – 23,281 percent, "Armenia" bloc – 9, 934 percent, and PAP – 3,996 percent.

The threshold for passing to the National Assembly of Armenia is 4 percent for individual parties. If the PAP's votes do not increase as a result of the recount, it will not pass to the parliament. The other three political forces, however, will definitely be in the new parliament.
