The Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) will not tolerate a situation where Armenia takes a consumerist stance towards the union and at the same time prepares for European integration, Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) spokesperson Maria Zakharova said during a press briefing Wednesday.

“The leadership of the [Armenian] republic is trying to convince its own citizens that as if—the question is already being posed this way—there is no need to choose between the EU and the EAEU yet. That as if it is possible to take advantage of all the advantages and privileges of Eurasian integration and, in parallel, prepare the ground for joining another economic bloc. No, it is not possible. We [i.e. Russia] do not intend to tolerate such a consumerist and one-sided self-interested stance towards the EAEU,” the Russian MFA spokesperson said.
