There is no clear agreement yet on a meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.

“There is no clear agreement yet. You know that an announcement on the [June 7 Armenian parliamentary] election results is expected on the 14th of the month. You know that many election participants intend to appeal, there will be a recount, etc.; that is, the situation is quite complicated and long,” Peskov said, answering RIA Novosti’s question about the plans for a possible meeting between Putin and Pashinyan.

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s party, which advocates Armenia’s accession to the European Union, failed to collect the 50 percent of the votes needed to form a government. However, it will receive the necessary number of parliamentary seats for this on the account of the seats reserved for the country’s national minorities and the redistribution of votes from political forces that did not enter the parliament.
