The southern Iranian province of Hormozgan is facing a drinking water crisis after US strikes on water supply and drainage systems of the province, Fars news agency reports.

“The attacks by the American enemy destroyed drinking water distribution infrastructure, including two concrete reservoirs with a capacity of 500 and 2,000 cubic meters, along with their mechanical equipment,” the director general of the Hormozgan provincial water supply and drainage company said.

Water supply disruptions were recorded in the Baman district, which has a population of 20,000.

According to Fars, the damage is estimated at around $1 million.

“The water supply to residents of these regions is currently suspended, and alternative water supply options are being considered,” the news agency reported.

Earlier, the Iranian state-run IRIB television and radio company reported that the US had struck two reservoirs in Hormozgan. Also, the American military attacked a facility on Qeshm island, as well as targets in the cities of Jask and Kuh-e Mobarak.
