The Zhoghovurd newspaper of the Republic of Armenia (RA) writes as follows, in particular: While political forces are still waiting for the publicizing of the final [parliamentary] election results [on Sunday], the authorities’ circles, according to our information, are no longer discussing the results, but the next ruling phase: the formation of a new National Assembly and the reshuffle of the government.

According to the Zhoghovurd daily’s information, the authorities are waiting with great confidence for the June 14 official recap of the elections, but in parallel they are already calculating the first actions of the 9th convocation of the National Assembly.

According to the same sources, the last day of the powers of the 8th convocation of the parliament is scheduled for August 2, and on that day, in accordance with the constitutional requirement, the inaugural session of the new parliament will convene.

It is noteworthy that in the authorities’ camp, according to information, there are almost no doubts that the opposition forces will take their mandates and participate in the work of the parliament.

If this assessment is true, the axis of the political struggle will once and for all move from the streets to the parliament. According to sources, at the August 2 session, it is planned to elect, with a fast procedure, the president and vice presidents of the National Assembly, determine the number of standing committees, and then proceed to the election of the RA prime minister.

After that, the prime minister will form the new government, which will submit its activity program to the parliament within the specified period. If this scenario is implemented, then one thing is obvious: the authorities are already acting not with the logic of waiting, but with [the logic of] the next political cycle. And for the opposition, the main question remains: are they really going to enter the parliament and fight from within, or will they change their tactics at the last moment? Until then, the [Armenian] public is still waiting for the final results of the elections, but in the political backstage, it seems that the next authorities’ formation has already begun.
