Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan will not refuse to visit Russia if he receives an invitation from Russian President Vladimir Putin, Pashinyan himself announced during a press briefing Thursday.

When asked why the Russian leader did not congratulate him on his ruling party’s win in the Armenian parliamentary elections on June 7, Pashinyan confirmed that there was no congratulation, adding sarcastically: “We hope he [i.e. Putin] will congratulate.”

Regarding a possible meeting between them in the foreseeable future—and which was announced in April, Pashinyan noted that there was a “mutual understanding” regarding this meeting, but there is no invitation yet.

“I will go, if there is [an invitation]. I definitely will not refuse,” the Armenian premier said.
