As a result of the recount in dozens and hundreds of polling stations, a sharp decline in the votes of the ruling Civil Contract (CC) party was observed. Narek Karapetyan, who headed the Strong Armenia bloc’s electoral list in the parliamentary elections on June 7, on Thursday announced this on Facebook.

“You have seen with your own eyes how soldiers are being directed to the elections. You have seen with your own eyes how employees of state government bodies are being directed to vote for the CC.

Taking all this into account, tomorrow we will apply to the Central Electoral Commission so that the commission annuls the election results and reviews the votes of the CC. If we do not receive a quick response, we will apply to the Constitutional Court.

We must cut off the arms of the CC in Armenia. With today's situation, the CC is already the weakest [political] force [in Armenia], having lost its majority, with less than 50 percent of the vote, even after so many [electoral] violations, it is a force without three-fifths, and cannot change the constitution [of Armenia] on [Azerbaijani president Ilham] Aliyev's instructions. But we will go deeper so that the [parliamentary election] results are reviewed," Karapetyan added.

According to the preliminary data of the Central Electoral Commission on the aforesaid elections, the votes were distributed as follows: ruling Civil Contract party – 49.825 percent, Strong Armenia bloc – 23.281 percent, "Armenia" bloc – 9.934 percent, and Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP) – 3.996 percent.

The threshold for winning seats in the National Assembly (parliament) is 4 percent for individual political parties. And if the PAP votes increase as a result of the recount, it will also be in the new parliament.
