The consequences of vandalism at the Mother Armenia memorial in Gyumri are being restored. Chairman of the council of veteran servicemen of the Russian 102nd Military Base in Gyumri, a civil servant of the military base, Ashot Karapetyan, told this to Sputnik Armenia.

It became known on Thursday that an unknown person or persons had torn off the golden letters of the names of Great Patriotic War’s hero cities at the Mother Armenia memorial, which is considered a symbol of Gyumri, which were later found in a trash can.

Both servicemen and civilian personnel of the Russian 102nd Military Base are participating in the restoration of this Great Patriotic War memorial.

As reported earlier, the Russian Embassy in Armenia had expressed indignation over the desecration of this Great Patriotic War memorial in Gyumri.
