The US Air Force has increased the number of its B-1B Lancer and B-52H Stratofortress strategic bombers stationed at the front-line Fairford airbase in England to 27, as per the Fairford Movements portal.

Previously, the squadron consisted of 23 aircraft; four more bombers arrived at the airbase last week, amid US strikes on Iranian targets.

Meanwhile, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) in the Middle East did not report the use of these aircraft during the two night operations, although flights were recorded from the airbase on those days.

During the US-Israeli military campaign against Iran, B-1Bs and B-52Hs were used daily to strike key targets in the country.

After the US and Iran reached a ceasefire agreement, the planes conducted training flights to maintain combat readiness. According to CENTCOM, flights were made to the Middle East, too.

Currently, 18 B-1B Lancer heavy bombers and 9 B-52H Stratofortress are stationed at Fairford airbase. Each aircraft can carry 24 JDAM 900-kilogram guided bombs with a range of up to 20 km, or 12 JASSM cruise missiles with a range of about 300 km.

During the aforesaid military campaign, these weapons were used to strike Iran's most important facilities; in particular, protected sites for the storage, production, and deployment of ballistic missiles.
