More nations are evaluating the European-made SAMP/T NG missile defense system, demonstrating the Franco-Italian interceptor’s emergence as an alternative to hard-to-get Patriot batteries from the US, informed sources said, Bloomberg reports.

Eurosam, co-owned by MBDA Missile Systems Services SAS and Thales SA, is discussing SAMP/T NG packages with Kuwait and Hungary, according to people familiar with the matter, who asked not be named with decisions in flux. About 15 countries are looking into the system, the people said, including Switzerland and Estonia, which have shown interest publicly.
