Hraparak daily of the Republic of Armenia (RA) writes as follows, in particular: We learned from [Armenian] authorities’ circles that the West is in shock from the results of the parliamentary elections [on June 7].

The thing is that they expected that the anti-Russian sentiments they incited in Armenia after the sale of Artsakh [(Nagorno-Karabakh)] would yield tangible results, and on June 7, the [Armenian political] forces considered pro-Russian would be widely rejected.

But it turned out the [Armenian] society rejects [PM] Nikol Pashinyan so much that it is ready to vote even for opposition forces with a pro-Russian orientation. More than half a million [such] votes have surprised Western centers. We were told that the West is exerting possible pressure so that Pashinyan does not make concessions in relations with Russia.

They plan that the RA authorities’ anti-Russian policy will infuriate the RF [i.e. the Russian Federation] so much that it will tighten economic sanctions [on Armenia] even more, and the anti-Russian sentiments in Armenia will grow so much that the confrontation will escalate, and on that basis Pashinyan will withdraw from the CSTO and withdraw the [Russian] 102nd Military Base from Armenia.
