Israeli officials fear that Iran will use the 60-day talks under a memorandum of understanding with the US to advance its own nuclear ambitions and continue work on creating nuclear weapons, several senior Israeli officials say, reports Channel 12 television.

According to these sources, Iran's Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, does not intend to sign a final nuclear agreement with the US. Also, representatives of the Israeli defense ministry also told Channel 12  that Tehran will drag out the process, and the 60 days for negotiations will turn into a much longer period.

At the same time, Channel 12’s interlocutors note that it is still unclear what exactly is included in the memorandum of understanding between Washington and Tehran, since both US President Donald Trump and Iranian officials are making contradictory statements.

In this context, aforesaid sources draw attention to the Iranian side’s statement that the agreement will enable Tehran to independently decide on the issue of diluting enriched uranium on Iranian territory.

Israeli analysts, analyzing the data on the deal, are skeptical about the prospects for resolving the issue of Iran’s nuclear program. According to many of them, the agreement signed under former US President Barack Obama, which limited that program, contained stronger guarantees to prevent Iran from creating a nuclear bomb, Channel 12 adds.
