The European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) has publicized its first judgment in cases related to the 2016 April Four-Day War.

According to information posted on the ECHR website, among other things, the European Court found that Azerbaijan violated the right to life of an Armenian soldier and the prohibition of torture (beheading and mutilation of the body).

And as per the judgment, Azerbaijan is obligated to pay €90,000 in compensation to the victim's relatives.

The ECHR judgment details how during the 2016 April Four-Day War, Azerbaijani armed forces ambushed Armenian soldiers, injured them, then beheaded and mutilated their bodies.

Armenia is involved in these cases as a third party, according to the court's procedures.

Despite the fact that Azerbaijan has continuously denied its guilt in such grave crimes, it was the Azerbaijani news channels’ reports where Azerbaijani special forces presented their "heroic deeds," which were of great importance in the making of this judgment.
