The Strait of Hormuz is open, US Vice President JD Vance has announced.

“First, we wanted to build a mechanism for keeping the Strait of Hormuz open—it is open. We've seen, of course, gas prices and oil prices come down. ... natural gas flowing through the Strait of Hormuz that weren't flowing before,” the US Vice President told reporters at Burgenstock, Switzerland.

He added that they “wanted to make sure that we actually set up the coordination mechanism” for de-mining operations and the resumption of trade.
