Shipping in the Strait of Hormuz has become more active after the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the US and Iran, the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) Centre reports.

According to a report from the UKMTO over the past 72 hours, shipping traffic in the Strait of Hormuz has begun to resume.

Also, the center lowered its maritime security threat level to "moderate."

The UKMTO noted that some minor risks still remain, but monitoring and cleaning in the water area continues.

The aforesaid memorandum between the US and Iran was signed on June 17. The document provides for an immediate cessation of hostilities on all fronts, including in Lebanon. The signing ceremony was originally scheduled to take place on June 19 in Burgenstock, Switzerland, but the agreement was eventually signed remotely.

The first round of talks between representatives of the US and Iran, mediated by Qatar and Pakistan, took place in Burgenstock on Sunday. Subsequently, the parties reported that the dialogue was taking place in a constructive atmosphere, progress had been made, and the basis for further technical talks had been created.
