Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam held a telephone conversation with Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad al-Sheibani, amid the rapidly changing situation in the region, according to a statement from the Lebanese Prime Minister's Office.

The conversation took place after US President Donald Trump's statements suggesting that Syria could intervene in the confrontation with Hezbollah of Lebanon if Israel fails to achieve its goals.

Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa had earlier ruled out military intervention in an interview, saying that Damascus relies exclusively on diplomatic, political, and economic methods to ensure regional stability.

Against the backdrop of the situation, Salam called the Syrian leader's aforesaid stance "fraternal and sincere" and expressed support for it.
