US President Donald Trump hopes Iran will use its oil revenue to buy food from American farmers, not to strengthen military potential.

"But they’re [i.e. Iran] supposed to use money to buy food for their people, because right now their people are very hungry," Trump said, responding to a reporter's question about whether Iran would receive an additional source to fund its armed forces.

He added that Iran will buy agricultural products, mostly from American farmers.

Trump also said that, in his opinion, the issue of nuclear weapons is more dangerous than the global economic crisis that could arise in the event of a renewed conflict with Tehran.

"Nuclear weapons supersede [economic] depression. Depressions is real bad... a nuclear weapon will cause depression much more quickly," said the US president.
