The European Commission, the European Investment Bank (EIB), and the Armenian Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure signed a memorandum of understanding in Brussels, on the sidelines of the high-level launch of the European Union (EU) Connectivity Agenda Platform.

This memorandum officially marks the launch of advisory assistance within the framework of the Facility for Eastern Partnership Investment in Connectivity (EPIC), the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure of Armenia informed Armenian News-NEWS.am.

The initiative envisages assistance for the preparation of the Akhurik-Kayan and Margara-Kayan strategic road routes in Armenia, which will connect border crossing points to the country’s road network. In the first phase, the EIB will provide advisory assistance to define the scope of the necessary studies and develop feasible solutions for the aforementioned road projects.

The projects are implemented within the framework of the Armenian government’s “Crossroads of Peace” initiative, and aim to contribute to the development of regional transport links, strengthen Armenia’s role as a reliable transport and logistics hub, as well as promote the Connectivity Agenda Platform of the EU.
