The Western countries’ unfriendly military and political actions around Armenia may lead to a further aggravation of the situation in the region. Chairman of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) Permanent Council for 2026, Viktor Vasilyev, stated this during the St. Petersburg International Legal Forum.
"There is a need to pay special attention to the situation in the South Caucasus, taking into account the [parliamentary] elections held in Armenia. The US plans to ensure the security of the Zangezur corridor, the intentions of the EU countries to include Armenia in their military structures, as well as other unfriendly actions being taken in this region will lead to a further aggravation of the situation in the future. We are monitoring the situation," Vasilyev noted.
