Oman, in coordination with the International Maritime Organization (IMO) of the United Nations, has opened a temporary transit corridor for ships in the Strait of Hormuz, which will be toll-free, the Omani ministry of transport informed.

“Oman, in coordination with the International Maritime Organization, has provided the opportunity to use a temporary sea corridor for all vessels,” the Omani transport ministry said in its X account.

The ministry added that this decision was taken within the framework of agreements reached between the US and Iran.

Thus, to use the new route, ships must contact the IMO and move according to the coordinates set by this organization and the Omani authorities.
