Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan clarified what he meant when he said that the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) should say whether it exists or not.

At a press briefing held after the government Cabinet session, Pashinyan, answering a respective question and the comparison with the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), recalled that the activities of the EAEU mean the free circulation of goods, labor, and finance. If this does not exist, then the EAEU does not exist either, the Armenian premier believes.

According to him, there may be problems for a month or two, but if they continue for the fourth month, it means that the EAEU does not exist.

“If it [i.e. the EAEU] does not exist, what should we [i.e. Armenia] do? Well, if it's not there, it's not there," Pashinyan said with a grin, while also noting that Armenia's economic indicators recorded an 11 percent increase in activity in May.

Pashinyan admitted that the situation surrounding the EAEU is worrying, but it should also concern the EAEU partners.

"Rest assured that they are worried because they know that the same thing can happen to them, too. We [i.e. Armenia] do not set a goal of leaving the EAEU. But if the issue is not resolved, the collapse of the EAEU is inevitable," the Armenian premier added.
