The regulation signed and ratified by the two countries has binding legal force. This is our certificate of recognition of territorial integrity, the same "cadastral certificate" of Armenia that we were talking about. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated this during a press briefing Thursday, answering a reporter's question about whether the Armenian authorities had finally managed to find the state's "ownership certificate" without which, according to the premier's previous statements, they could "demand the destruction" of Armenia.

The reporter reminded the head of the Armenian government of his previous statements that Azerbaijan would not stop in Nagorno-Karabakh and would try to destroy Armenia itself, and reproached Pashinyan for not fulfilling his pre-election promises, being guided by the principle of patronage, and abandoning his former modest lifestyle.

Pashinyan expressed surprise at the question on the search for Armenia’s borders, emphasizing the importance of the recent ratification of the joint regulations of the border delimitation commissions Armenia and Azerbaijan. He admitted that he had previously been truly convinced of Baku and Ankara’s intentions to eliminate Armenian statehood.

“It was then that I realized that we had a conceptual error: we think that someone else would come and protect us from this danger. And it was then that all our political formulas changed, and as a result of these analyses, the ideology of ‘Real Armenia’ was born, which answers practically all the questions you raised,” said Nikol Pashinyan, adding that the new concept is based exclusively on the internationally recognized territory of Armenia.

The Armenian premier specifically addressed his previous controversial statements on the Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) conflict. Pashinyan noted that he has never avoided accountability for his words and has personally recalled dozens of times his own phrase “Artsakh is Armenia, period!” which he made in Artsakh capital Stepanakert’s Renaissance Square in 2019.

“It was as a result of those statements that we reached the current point, and this is a good point. If I hadn’t said it, we would still have remained in that trap, in the status of captives, because we would not have understood the true essence of what was happening. All this is a delusion, as if it seemed to us that Artsakh is ours, and now the question is whether we will lose it or not. We were faced with the problem of losing Armenia itself,” Pashinyan stated.
