Chairman of the Central Electoral Commission (CEC) of Armenia, Vahagn Hovakimyan, did not wish to answer the question whether the CEC will strip Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP) chairman—and business tycoon—Gagik Tsarukyan of immunity.
“We [i.e. the CEC] have received the [respective] petition, we have noted about it, and the rest [will be done] later,” Hovakimyan told reporters in front of the Constitutional Court of Armenia, and did not answer other questions.
Earlier, Armenian News-NEWS.am reported that the Prosecutor General's Office of Armenia has submitted a petition to the CEC to obtain the latter’s consent to initiate criminal proceedings against Gagik Tsarukyan. The Prosecutor General's Office, however, does not specify what proceedings are in question.
