Armenia should answer the question of the strategic choice between the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) and the European Union (EU) as soon as possible, said Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) spokesperson Maria Zakharova in a comment.

"The statement of the leaders of Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Russia, adopted in Astana on May 29, clearly notes that Yerevan's path to rapprochement with the EU carries significant risks for the economic security of the EAEU member states. The document emphasizes the need to prevent damage related to that to the countries that are part of the EAEU," Zakharova noted.

“Therefore, Yerevan must answer the question of strategic choice, as [Armenian Prime Minister] Nikol Pashinyan himself calls for,” added the Russian MFA spokesperson. “And as soon as possible.”
