U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) reported carrying out strikes on sites in Iran following Tehran’s attack on a commercial vessel in the Strait of Hormuz area.

In a statement published on the social media platform X, CENTCOM said that U.S. aircraft struck storage sites for Iranian missiles and drones, as well as coastal radar stations. According to the command, these actions were a response to the attack on the vessel M/V Ever Lovely, which was hit by a one-way drone on June 25.

CENTCOM said that Iran’s attacks on civilian shipping constitute “unprovoked aggression” and violate the ceasefire, while also undermining freedom of navigation along one of the world’s key international trade routes.

It was also noted that U.S. forces continue to coordinate the safe passage of commercial vessels through the strait and maintain a military presence in the region to monitor compliance with the agreements.
