The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said it had carried out “retaliatory actions” following what it described as an attack by US forces near Sirik Island.

In its statement, the IRGC said that Iranian naval and air forces were able to “neutralize the attack” and forced the “enemy forces to retreat” in order to protect Iran’s sovereignty over its territory and waters.

The corps stressed that the incident “will not go unanswered” and that Tehran’s response will be “swift and decisive” at a time and place of its choosing.

The IRGC also warned that any further actions would be met with a “harsh response.”
