The Constitutional Court (CC) of Armenia on Monday continues to examine the petition filed by political forces to invalidate the results of the June 7 National Assembly (parliament) elections.

Seven political forces had filed separate petitions in this regard to the CC, but the latter decided to combine them and consider them in one proceeding.

On the second day of the hearing of the petition, however, the “New Power” Reformist Party announced its termination of participation in this process.

The Central Electoral Commission is the respondent in the case, the Prosecutor General's Office, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and the Anti-Corruption Committee of Armenia are the co-respondents, and the ruling Civil Contract party is a third party.

The CC has heard the parties' introductory speeches and questions and answers over the past three working days.

But by decision of CC president Arman Dilanyan, taking into account that according to the legislation the CC decision on the aforesaid petitions must be made by July 4, an unusual working schedule has been established: CC sessions are also held on weekends and after working hours.

The Constitutional Court judges on Monday will address their questions to the parties.
