A US rescue team has managed to pull a nine-month-old baby and the latter’s mother alive from the rubble after the earthquake in Venezuela, the US search and rescue team said.

Team USA-01, working with local firefighters, rescued a mother and her nine-month-old baby from the rubble of a collapsed building. Both are alive and, fortunately, have only minor injuries, the US search and rescue team said in a statement on X.

Two powerful earthquakes struck Venezuela recently. According to the US Geological Survey, the first tremor had a magnitude of 7.2, and the second—7.5. They were followed by more than 430 aftershocks.

According to the latest data from the Venezuelan authorities, the death toll has reached 1,430, and 3,238 injured have received medical assistance.

The disaster has razed many residential buildings to the ground, damaged infrastructure and hospitals, and rendered Venezuela's main airport inoperable.
