Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi, who is part of the negotiating team on the implementation of the memorandum with the US, has denied reports of technical consultations with the US starting Tuesday in Doha, the capital of Qatar.
“There will be no technical meetings of the working groups this week. Consultations with Qatar are proceeding as normal, including on the implementation of the other party’s obligations, but reports in some media outlets about the start of technical talks in Doha are not reliable,” Gharibabadi told reporters.
He noted that the parties have not yet reached an agreement on the venue and timeframe of these technical talks. Consultations on this matter are continuing with the assistance of intermediary countries, the Iranian deputy foreign minister added.
Earlier, Axios journalist Barak Ravid had reported that that representatives of the US and Iran had agreed to a mutual cessation of strikes and to hold consultations in Doha on Tuesday to resolve their differences over the Strait of Hormuz.
