Azerbaijan has always been guided by the principles of humanism and stated that the resolution of the issue of missing persons is an important part of the process of strengthening peace and confidence in the South Caucasus. Deputy Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan, member of the country's State Commission on Prisoners of War, Hostages and Missing Persons Elnur Mammadov stated this during an international conference in Baku on the issue of missing persons, according to Report.az

"The solution to the problem of missing persons requires joint efforts and transparent cooperation of not only one country, but also all parties. (...).Missing persons in armed conflicts are a tragedy that leaves a deep mark not only on individual families, but also on entire societies. (...) the issue of missing persons is one of the priority issues not only on the national agenda, but also on the global humanitarian agenda," Mammadov noted.

He added that since November 2020, Azerbaijan has transferred the bodies of more than 2,000 Armenian soldiers found on the battlefield.
