Many political forces have responded to our call for unity, even Pashinyan has responded that he is joining; you saw that from the NA rostrum, opposition Strong Armenia Alliance leader Samvel Karapetyan told reporters Tuesday.

To the clarifying question as to which opposition forces in Armenia have responded, besides the force led by ex-President Robert Kocharyan, Karapetyan replied: “There are many forces, you will see that when the first assembly takes place. Of course, we will organize it, many forces are waiting for an invitation. Many forces have contacted, many forces have announced that, the day will come for that, you will see everything. This does not apply only to parties; many influential individuals will also join. Now we are waiting for the CC’s [i.e. the Constitutional Court’s] decision [regarding whether or not to invalidate the results of the June 7 parliamentary election], because what kind of meeting we plan depends on it.”

Referring to the fact that Armenia’s opposition forces are contesting the results of the June 7 National Assembly (NA) elections, while the ruling party is already selecting candidates for the next speaker and vice-speaker of the parliament, Karapetyan said: “Well, they are busy with their work, we are busy with our work. Oppositionist Samvel Karapetyan will fight to remove [PM Nikol] Pashinyan [from power]. What do you know that we do not have a [respective] roadmap? Why should we publicize [it]? The day will come, people will know who should fight. We will not tell you now.”

Regarding the contesting at the Constitutional Court (CC) the June 7 election results, Karapetyan said: “It is a process that we are obligated to go through. [Lawyer Aram] Vardevanyan [a representative of the Strong Armenia Alliance] presents our demands every day, he presents [them] very well. That is why we will now all see together the degree of CC’s dependence on these authorities. I am sure that the CC has the opportunity to designate a second round [of parliamentary elections], and we are waiting for that opportunity.”

To the reminder that he used to say that “we are strong, we will take power,” Samvel Karapetyan responded: “Yes, we are strong, we will win. But is it mandatory to have a plan B? If we were not strong, would Pashinyan join? The man is calling [for people] to come out against him. Have you seen such a thing in history? The man is calling from the NA rostrum, ‘kick me out!”

Karapetyan added that there is time until the end of July to decide whether or not to take parliamentary mandates.

“Whoever from our team should go to the National Assembly will go, whoever should not go to the NA will not go,” Karapetyan added.

He added that there will be no roadmap for removing Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan from power.

“If we do nothing, Nikol Pashinyan will remove himself [from power], because he will have failures every day, and the Armenian people will see it every day and will give their assessment. We have our secret plan to remove Pashinyan [from power]; I will not reveal [it] now. We will do [it] very easily,” said the leader of the opposition Strong Armenia Alliance.
