The ongoing peace process between Azerbaijan and Armenia, as well as efforts to normalize relations between Turkey and Armenia, are encouraging; this creates prospects for greater stability and cooperation for our wider region. Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia, Shalva Papuashvili, stated this in his address at the 67th Plenary Session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation Organization.

According to Papuashvili, today the aforesaid region has great potential to strengthen its role as a hub for trade, transport, energy, and digital communications.

“To further strengthen cooperation, we must view the current period not only from the perspective of challenges, but also from the perspective of new opportunities,” the Georgian legislature speaker noted.

Papuashvili added that the full commissioning of the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway earlier this month, a joint strategic project of Georgia, Azerbaijan, and Turkey, is a vivid example of joint investment in mutually beneficial cooperation and regional development.
