A special communication channel has been created to prevent the escalation of tension in the Strait of Hormuz, said Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) spokesperson Majed Mohammed Al-Ansari.

“For these purposes [i.e. to prevent conflicts], a communication channel has been created, which has already been used to contain the escalation that has occurred in the past few days. This channel has been created and is operational,” Al-Ansari said at a press briefing, answering a question about the mechanisms for resolving the conflict.

But he did not provide technical details of the operation of this channel.

Also, the Qatari MFA spokesperson informed that Doha was discussing with its partners the possibility of holding a regional dialogue with the participation of Iran.

"We [i.e. Qatar] are working with our regional partners to discuss how to reach a point where countries in the region, including Iran, will find it appropriate to sit at the negotiating table and openly discuss their concerns," Al-Ansari noted.
