President Xi Jinping called the 105-year history of the Communist Party of China the "greatest epic" of the Chinese nation and called for accelerating the construction of a modern socialist country.

In a speech at a ceremonial session marking the 105th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China (CPC) on Wednesday, Chinese President Xi Jinping, who also holds the positions of General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee and Chairman of the Central Military Commission, said the party must remain true to its ideology and mission, continuing to lead the country towards the realization of the goals of socialist modernization.

According to the Chinese leader, the 105-year journey of the CPC has become "the greatest epic of the Chinese nation," and its history testifies to China's ability to overcome external pressures and internal difficulties and achieve rapid development.

Xi Jinping recalled that the CPC was founded in 1921, at a time when China was going through difficult times. During those years, the country was weakened by foreign interference, political instability, and widespread poverty. Over the past century, the party, which began its activities with a small group of just over 50 members, has grown into the world's largest ruling political organization, with significant influence both domestically and internationally.

The President of the People's Republic of China stressed that one of the most important tasks of the CPC remains to achieve the goal of country's comprehensive socialist modernization by the middle of the 21st century. He noted that the implementation of this task requires consistency, political stability, and maintaining a strategic course.

"Time waits for no one, just as history," Xi said, emphasizing that the CPC must not miss the opportunities for China's further development.

He called on all members of the CPC to strictly adhere to the fundamental principles, main line, and basic policies of the party’s ideology. According to Xi Jinping, the party must maintain confidence and not deviate from the chosen path even under external pressure and internal difficulties.

Using a figurative expression, the Chinese leader noted that it is necessary to “not be afraid of passing clouds and confidently move forward despite the wind and waves.”

In his speech, Xi Jinping paid special attention to the role of the people of China in the development of the country. He stressed that all of China’s achievements have been made possible thanks to the close connection between the party and society, so the CPC must continue to rely on the support of the citizens.

In this context, the Chinese president called on party organizations and officials to show greater initiative, responsibility, and aspiration to achieve concrete results.

“It is necessary to further strengthen the spirit of entrepreneurship and willingness to act,” he said.

A significant part of his speech was devoted to national security issues and the international situation. Xi Jinping stated that China's development is taking place in an environment where, along with strategic opportunities, there are many risks and challenges.

According to him, uncertainty is growing further in the world, and the number of unpredictable factors continues to grow.

"We must always be prepared to face serious trials, strong winds, fierce waves, and even destructive storms," the Chinese leader warned.

Also, he noted that the world is experiencing a period of profound changes, unprecedented in the past century. In his opinion, the international system has entered a new era of turbulence and transformation, and humanity is once again faced with the need to choose a future path for development.

In these conditions, as Xi Jinping emphasized, China intends to continue to promote the concept of a "community with a shared destiny for mankind", which Beijing sees as the basis for the development of international cooperation and strengthening global stability.

The President of the People's Republic of China focused on party building, too. He called for continuing the policy of strict internal party oversight and not weakening the fight against corruption.

According to Xi Jinping, the fight against corruption remains a long-term task that requires consistent and decisive action.

"All party members must never forget their original purpose and historical mission, always maintain modesty, prudence and diligence, and be endowed with the courage and ability to continue the fight," he said.

According to published data, the number of members of the Communist Party of China is currently about 101.29 million, and the number of original party organizations exceeds 5.43 million, which makes the CPC the largest ruling party in the world.

At the end of the ceremony, Xi Jinping awarded the July 1st Medal, the highest award of the CPC, to members of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China for their outstanding services to the party and the state.
