Tel Aviv may cut off financial aid from Washington this year because Israel's economy is strong enough to survive on its own, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said.

"I want to stop American [financial] aid. It's like welfare; I don't want it," Netanyahu said, News18 reports.

The Israeli prime minister added that he wants the process of cutting off American financial aid to begin this year.

Politico had reported on June 27 that Israel is facing increasing international isolation despite its recent joint military operations with the US against Iran.

US Vice President JD Vance had said that Israel must realize that its status as a special ally of the United States is no longer guaranteed.

And US President Donald Trump had said on June 19 that it was necessary to keep Netanyahu rational, despite the good relations between them.
